The Second Amendment

"The Right to Bear Arms"

This is a right that as an American child I knew existed. My dad always had a rifle in his bedroom and my siblings and I never touched it. I was just never interested. It was a right that I took for granted.

Last Saturday I purchased a pistol of my very own. I have it responsibly locked up waiting for my brother, a former U.S. Marine, to teach me how to clean it, safety, and how to actually hit a target. I hope that I never have to use it, but I feel better for having it. Already ammunition is difficult to find. The gun salesman said that people are hoarding ammunition since the new administration has taken power.

I believe in our Constitution and the foresight and brilliance of our founding fathers. This can never be taken from us - the citizens of the United States of America. It is bound up in our hearts and souls. This is for my ancestors who so bravely fought in the American Revolution, the Civil War and World War II. I am their Daughter of Liberty.
